We are very pleased to report that the Swiss Challenge Tender Committee has issued the invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the first package of works on 15 October 2020. This is an important milestone in the overall development of the New Urban Development of Yangon City.
The Tender Committee consist of five members chaired by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications H.E. U Kyaw Myo, with Deputy Minister of Planning, Finance & Industry H.E. U Sett Aung, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations H.E. U Bharat Singh, Minister of Planning and Finance of the Yangon Regional Government H.E. U Ye Min Oo, and the Secretary of Yangon City Development Committee Daw Hlaing Maw Oo as members.
It is the Committee’s objective to apply a structured and transparent process with the aim of encouraging the private sector and fostering competition. The Committee has chosen international consulting firm Roland Berger to administer the Swiss Challenge.
I am delighted with the progress and trust that over the coming weeks the Tender Committee with the aid of our international consultant will select the most suitable party to undertake the works. The outcome of this will no doubt be hugely beneficial to the country and the people of Myanmar, both economically and socially.
